Book 1 of the Jackie Green
Gifted Girls Series:
Jackie Green AND THE Purple Potion
Jackie Green led Spirit to the creek that winded through the Greens Kentucky property for a well-deserved drink of water. It was the fastest Spirit had raced to date, and Jackie was proud of her horse. The white mare gently poked her head into the crystal clear water to drink her fill. Jackie patted Spirits head, dreaming of all the horseback riding medals she would bring back home to the Greens farm. Spirit lifted her head up from her drink and nodded to Jackie. On Spirits head shone a piece of gold medal. Jackie reached out to examine the object. It was a gold heart pendant, the size of a thumb. Wow, girl, Jackie said. Youre already fetching me medals. Jackie laughed. Only this one is very unusual. Jackie brought the pendant out into the sunlight and examined it closely. It was a simple design, gold heart with a bow on top. Jackie turned the pendant around to the back. There in the center of the back was a word inscribed. Jackie.
Wow! Jackie said. This pendant has my name on it. Maybe it was a gift someone was going to give me, but lost it. Jackie looked over at Spirit. Or maybe someone named Jackie lost it.
Spirit looked over at Jackie and neighed. Then Spirit winked as if to say, Silly, this is your pendant. Didnt you know, you have been gifted. You are a Gifted Girl. Then as quickly as Spirit seemed to have said this, Spirit turned away and started walking towards the barn where the Greens kept their horses.
Wait up, Jackie shouted after Spirit. Was I dreaming this or did my horse suddenly talked to me?
Spirit turned around to look back at Jackie. With a sigh, she shooked her head. Oh my, Spirit said. Dont tell me this little girl can understand horses? Drat. Now all the human folks would know we gossip horribly behind their backs!
